"Side Guard" (c)
"Side Guard" is a computerized collision early warning system that
continually monitors vehicles that may be traveling in a vehicle's
"blind spot" using a "Side Mounted Sensor's. Upon activation through the
lane changing signal switch, "Side Guard" will alert the driver with an
auditory alarm or visual display (optional) to a potential hazard, such
as another vehicle.
"The Side Mounted Sensor's" is a motion sensing device that senses
objects in a vehicle's blind spot on the right side of the vehicle (left
side optional). This information is then processed by our computer,
which determines whether or not the vehicle can safely change lanes.
It has been determined that this technology is invaluable to drivers of
SUV's, Large Trucks and Tractor Trailers.

GPS and Dead-Reckoning data corrector.
New York City is a challenging environment for GPS navigation systems.
Tall skyscrapers may block, reflect,
attenuate or interfere with the GPS signals transmitted by the GPS
satellites. This type of environment is known as the “urban canyon”. In
the typical urban canyon, a GPS receiver may report erroneous positions
as a result of signal reflections (e.g. multipath effects). Also, given
the limited view of the open sky, a GPS receiver may not be able to
track satellites, resulting in the inability to determine position.
These limitations of the GPS receiver in urban canyons may be overcome
by supplementing the navigation solution with additional information
from onboard vehicle sensors: a gyroscope to provide vehicle heading and
an odometer pulse to provide vehicle speed. When GPS reception is poor,
the information from these sensors can be used to supplement the
navigation solution. This is commonly known as “dead reckoning”.
Additional hardware is added to interface to an external gyro and
"speed" pulse. Additional firmware is needed to calculate the position
based on information from the GPS system, the odometer pulse and the
gyroscope. Report details a road test with GPS and Dead-Reckoning data
corrector in New York City showing GPS and dead reckoning performance in
urban canyons, tunnels and a parking garage coming soon.
